The Swiss label is often the first concrete task in an import project. It is also where small mistakes cause large delays. This guide summarises what must appear on a prepacked food product sold in Switzerland; cosmetics and other goods follow similar logic with their own lists.
Information must be given in at least one official language of Switzerland: German, French or Italian. In practice, national distribution requires all three, which is why Fujisan prepares trilingual labels by default. English can be added but cannot replace an official language.
Nutrition and health claims are regulated. Words such as "natural", "light", "rich in" or any reference to health require specific conditions to be met. Traditional Japanese expressions that imply a benefit may need to be reworded. We check every claim before the label goes to print.
For a first launch, a compliant Swiss sticker applied over or beside the Japanese label is accepted, provided it does not hide mandatory information and is firmly attached. It allows a quick start with existing packaging. For established volumes, printed packaging in three languages is more elegant and cheaper per unit.
The maker sends the Japanese label and the specification sheet. Fujisan drafts the trilingual text, validates it, produces print-ready artwork and either applies stickers in Switzerland or supplies files for printing in Japan.
